I first met Karin on my very first teaching trip to the UK when I taught at her

Through a synchronistic turn of events I discovered a group of quilters in Florida who did a neat challenge about doors. I had been teaching and loved the students. I heard about their smaller group that would be meeting the very next day - and it was my travel day. So paid them a visit and heard all about their quilts. On a trip to New Zealand, Gail and her husband saw many things…so many things that Gail decided to do a exhibit to capture them. Her exhibit (and book) is called “Glimpses of New Zealand”. Tricia was the Jewel Pearce Patterson Scholarship winner for 2007. This
scholarship is awarded to one quilt teacher each year and pays for hotel,
airfare, and any classes at Quilt Market and Quilt Festival. The following year
the scholarship recipient has an exhibit of her work and her students work.

I met Russian Quilt Artist Izabella Baykova at the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham England a couple years ago. I love her quilts. Last year her quilt was one of the top 8 finalists at the Festival of Quilts. I was lucky enough to be able to get a translator so we could hear just how much depth there is to her quilts. I think you’ll enjoy it.

This month I thought I would give you a tiny peek at this terrific show in Birmingham England - it is the Festival of Quilts. And I was there teaching. WOW! What a show. The European quilters are incredibly creative. The links below are for those authors, teachers, and artists shown in the video.
Do you have dialup or a very slow download connection? My suggestion is to click on the “download” (near the bottom of the VidCast or PodCast post) to download the file to your computer (note where you put it). Go play with fabric or have a snack while it is downloading - it could take up to an hour if you have dialup. When it is done downloading, you should be able to open it by double clicking the file.

2nd VidCast - “Fantasy Fabric Pins” - these are a great piece of jewelery for the fiber lover. Candlelight yarn is captured under tulle on a piece of stiff felt. The layers are stitched together with invisible thread. Iron on rhinestones add a beautiful sparkle. VidCast #35 - Tricia was the Jewel Pearce Patterson Scholarship winner for 2007. This
scholarship is awarded to one quilt teacher each year and pays for hotel,
airfare, and any classes at Quilt Market and Quilt Festival. The following year
the scholarship recipient has an exhibit of her work and her students work.

VidCast #34 - I met Russian Quilt Artist Izabella Baykova at the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham England a couple years ago. I love her quilts. Last year her quilt was one of the top 8 finalists at the Festival of Quilts. I was lucky enough to be able to get a translator so we could hear just how much depth there is to her quilts. The PodCasts are called Life Lessons of a Traveling Quilt Artist. Here, Bonnie tells tales of her travels that lead to some interesting life lessons.
In the VodCasts (Video on Demand), Bonnie will demonstrate some of her creative quilting techniques.
